Buildings & Systems Engineering Mechanic

Job Summary:

UPS is hiring to maintain and ensure the efficient operation of package handling facilities. This position is vital for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to sustain high operational performance. Work is fast-paced, requiring collaboration with other hub employees. Applicants should be available for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts in a 24x7 operation and must possess a strong electrical background, including passing an electrical assessment.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC/DC electrical equipment (batteries, motor starters, relays, switches, VFDs, and encoders).
• Inspect, repair, and replace mechanical components (motors, drive chains, conveyors, pulleys, and bearings).
• Maintain pneumatic systems (diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils).
• Inspect and repair hydraulic equipment (hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps).
• Weld components such as handrails, conveyor supports, and package handling equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on conveyors and industrial equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Strong electrical background (required to pass an electrical assessment).
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and other industrial systems.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Availability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts in a 24x7 operation.

Salary:

• Starting pay: $35.81/hour.
